Fall Update

Well I guess I have been too busy to write any blog posts! Yikes! Well it has been a busy summer. We moved out of our Rockport home to Deer Isle and have spent the summer settling in. I also opened a little shop to combine with my gallery called Curated Wares. It’s had me running off my feet, but has been really enjoyable!

I also had an exhibition of my botanical work at the Page Gallery. This was a departure for me, to experiment with larger pieces. My work is usually small scale and intimate, inviting a one on one conversation with the viewer. You have to lean in, engage, quietly. But I’ve been thinking a lot about the idea of taking up space and what that means as a female artist, Creating smaller work, if I’m honest, has been a little bit of hedging my bets. Offering the work but keeping it all understated and manageable. What does it feel like to make bigger pieces, to engage with the viewer in a more immersive way? Here are some images from the show, I’ll let you be the judge.
