What is belonging? If not the feeling of the soil under your feet, or the silence you witness as dawn breaks over the tree line, or the contemplation of the leaves that glitter in the morning dew. To feel connected to the earth, to a place gives you something solid to hold on to, in the face of life’s impermanence, this is what I come back to, when I feel I’ve lost my center and I’m looking for grounding.

These images were made in a variety of places where I have felt and looked for that connection. Places where I have felt space move through me, when I’ve had the time to contemplate the natural world around me, to look deeper, losing myself in observation of light and form. It is a type of meditation, a moment of absolute presence, when the act of recording provides the mechanism to slow down and pay attention.
