heard

Heard presents a series of assemblages that gather the echoes of women’s voices across generations, weaving memory, silence, and revelation into a visual and aural homage to our shared history.

Using found photographs, fragments of text, and tactile materials imbued with a sense of time and touch, this work explores how women’s stories, often hidden, dismissed, or erased, linger in the margins, waiting to be acknowledged. These layered compositions speak in whispers and ruptures, suggesting that what is not said, can still resonate, that the act of listening can be revolutionary. The work is both elegy and invocation, calling forth the voices of mothers, daughters, ancestors, and strangers.

Heard is an intimate reckoning with the transmission of female experience.  In reassembling these lives from scattered ephemera in the form of assemblages, I seek not only to remember these women; but to reframe their narratives. Reimagining the lives they lived and the stories they carried, asking  - what have we inherited from the women before us, and how do we carry their stories forward?

In installation this work is presented with an audio recording, of my voice, whispering. Through this use of repetition, distortion, and resonance, I want to create an atmosphere where the unseen becomes visible and the silent becomes heard. In this way, Heard is both an offering and a reclamation, where silence is not absence, but a presence waiting to be recognized.

These assemblages are all one of a kind pieces.
