Nov 3 - 13, Pascal Hall, Rockport MEOpening Reception Nov 3 5pm - 8pm
The definition of keepsake is “something kept or given, to be kept as a memento” and more specifically “an object kept for the sake of the giver.” What we chose to do with our memories is one way we define ourselves, what we hold on to and what we let go of. This exhibition, part of a group show marking her MFA graduation, and the accompanying book, Keepsakes, explores how we preserve memories, how the discoveries we make when exploring the natural world, rekindle the sense of wonder we remember from our childhood.
The presentation of these moments, whether in print or book form, preserves them, unique in their detail, universal in their underlying themes. The photograph itself, the photographic object, is the keepsake of the experience, a way of recording discoveries that serves as a reminder.
